Demolition task carried out at Shibangou quake lake
Adjust font size:

A demolition by explosives is carried out to the dam of the Shibangou quake lake in Qingchuan County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, June 4, 2008. A blasting task was carried out here at 18:24 pm Wednesday to widen the dam's sluice by 15 meters. A 12 million cubic meters quake lake, threatening the safety of thousands of people downstream, has been formed here after landslides triggered by the powerful May 12th earthquake striking southwest China's Sichuan Province. Under the continuous influences of aftershocks, rainfalls and other uncertain factors, chances for the quake lake to burst were growing higher.
