Two sick babies stranded in a mountainous region of the quake-hit zone have been transferred to hospital for treatment by an army aviation regiment under the Jinan military area command.

The babies were spotted in Si'er township at the border between Beichuan and Pingwu counties. The mountainous road from Beichuan to Si'er became inaccessible due to damage from the earthquake. Because of the harsh conditions, and the lack of food and water, the two babies had sores all over their bodies.

The army aviation regiment learned of their situation during a quake relief mission. Soldiers made urgent rescue plans, landed their helicopter in the valley and transferred them to a safer place.
