In Dongbei Township in Mianzhu, a school with 73 classrooms operating in tents opened on Saturday, enabling two thousand three hundred pupils to resume their class. At Longmenshan Township in Pengzhou, a school built with help from the Air Force has room for more than 600 students. Students from Beichuan County and Anxian County have also been helped by the PLA.

The military disaster relief personnel have vacated some of their tents for use by the students. Many PLA units have deployed officers to work as teaching assistants and psychological counselors at these schools.
