The first batch of the million units of temporary housing called for by the Department of Housing and Urban and Rural Construction was ready for occupancy on Wednesday in Dujiangyan City.

As of Wednesday noon, more than 600,000 of tents and about 15,000 units of portable houses had reached the quake zone.

The 10,000 square meters of housing can accommodate over 2,000 people.

The Ministry of Railways has ordered 5,000 carriages and 13,000 containers be kept in operation to ensure transport of relief materials. As of Wednesday noon, more than 600,000 of tents and about 15,000 units of portable houses had reached the quake zone.

Farming is also going as planned. Nearly 1.34 million hectares of wheat and over 870,000 hectares of rape seeds have been harvested. And over half of the planned 2.7 million hectares of rice have been planted in Deyang, Mianyang, Guangyuan.

Over 92,000 health workers are in Sichuan, with 220 of them from abroad.

Disinfection is regularly carried out in all housing projects in the affected areas. Health workers from Hunan conduct water sampling and teach the locals how to disinfect and get clean water.

At the Mianyang toll booth, a quake-zone traffic hub, crews clean and disinfect all vehicles coming in and out of the city.

The first Quake Stricken Region Epidemic Prevention Lab set up in Sichuan's Maoxian County by the Disease Control Center is now in operation.

Also on Wednesday, the Dujiangyan Cityl Employment Bureau held the first of what's planned to be a weekly recruitment session. About 300 units offered more than 5,000 posts, and over 2,000 people have been employed.
