Mobile units offering shower and laundry facilities can be found in some quake-hit towns in Sichuan.

This truck contains all the facilities needed to take a shower.

These trucks are normally used by soldiers in the field but are now being used by quake survivors.

A relief worker said, "There are already guaranteed supplies of drinking water and food supplies in the quake-hit areas. We now have to deal with sanitation. Our team has to ensure a total of 30,000 people in several townships can take showers. So the time each person can spend inside the truck has to be limited women can take a maximum of ten minutes, and soldiers three to five minutes."

This shower truck has been in use here for over three days. And nearly one thousand quake victims have already showered.

Trucks equipped with facilities for washing laundry can also be found in the quake-hit town of Luoshui.

A resident said, "I've brought many things to wash here. Blankets, cotton wadding and clothes. I can wash the lighter ones by myself, but I cannot wash these without sufficient water."

Many clothes and bedding are being found in the rubble and the trucks fitted with laundry facilities provide an alternative way to disinfect the items.

The laundry trucks will remain in Luoshui township for about a week before moving to other quake-hit areas.
