About 100 injured quake survivors from Sichuan are scheduled to arrive in Beijing today for treatment and rehabilitation.
The move is part of an effort to move people wounded in the massive earthquake to other parts of the country to ease the strain on medics and hospitals in Sichuan.
The Beijing Geriatric Hospital - designated as the treatment facility in the capital for quake victims - has prepared 101 beds and a special medical team comprising 35 doctors and 60 nurses, said Zhang Jingping, a division director of the hospital.
The hospital has hired 100 temporary medical workers to provide one-on-one service to the patients, especially those who have lost their limbs or those who have no family members with them, she noted.
In addition, rooms in nearby hotels have been booked for family members of the patients, and all services, including treatment, are free, she added.
