Many people all over the world have been saddened by the impact of the Sichuan earthquake. And overseas Chinese have been doing their utmost to help people in the quake zone. In Japan, sales and concerts are attracting thousands of Chinese.
On Sunday evening, several overseas Chinese associations held a charity concert, featuring many famous singers from both countries who performed for hundreds of spectators.
On Sunday afternoon, a charity sale of paintings and calligraphy opened in Tokyo. It was organized by the New Overseas Chinese Association In Japan and the Overseas Chinese Literary Artists Association. Over fifty artists donated about 100 works of art for the sale which will last until the end of next month. It is expected to raise about 10 million yen.
China's Ambassador to Japan attended the opening ceremony, and wrote "Qing-Yi-Wu-Jia" which means "friendship is priceless".
He said all overseas Chinese in Japan have been taking part in various activities to assist the survivors of the quake.

As of May 25th, the Chinese Embassy in Japan has received a total of 560 million yen in cash, and 6 batches of relief supplies worth 52 million yen.
