More rescue materials transported to Sichuan

A large amount of rescue goods has been sent to Sichuan province on airplanes and trains over the past week. People from all walks of life are continuing to make donations to quake-hit area.

A large amount of rescue goods has been sent to Sichuan province on airplanes and trains over the past week.

Boeing 747 is one of the world's largest airplanes. It has been allocated the job of continuously sending goods, including clothes, medicine, tents and telecommunications equipment from Guangdong to Sichuan province. By Monday, Guangdong province had delivered materials worth more than 100 million yuan to the quake-hit areas.

Also on Monday, a special train carrying rescue goods worth 5.6 million yuan left neighbouring Yunnan province for Sichuan. Yuannan has already sent 80 tons of rice, 205 tons of bottled water and over 12,000 boxes of medicines to the quake-hit areas.

People acorss the country are still enthusiastically giving donations. Zengcheng is a city in south China's Guangdong province, with a population of 800,000. At a city's charity activity over 25 million yuan has been raised and a large amount of goods has been collected. Guangdong province has so far raised over 1.3 billion yuan for the disaster areas.
