Shandong province exported over US$ 15 billion of farm produce in 2011, up 21 percent year-on-year, according to the provincial agriculture bureau.
The province's farm export set a new record for China's top farm export province, and accounts for roughly a quarter of China's total.
Shandong's main exports include aquatic products, vegetables, fruits, processed meat, and peanuts.
Shandong exported 4.24 billion U.S. dollars worth of farm produce to Japan last year, which, to the east of Shandong across the sea, remains the province's top farm export destination, followed by European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, South Korea, and the United States.
