A fireworks warehouse in Donggang in northeastern China's Liaoning Province exploded late Saturday
night.
The blast devoured the warehouse and broke windows at a
residential building about 150 meters away. There were no
casualties or injuries.
The explosion occurred at around 10 PM. The fire department put
out the fire after several hours by early Sunday morning.
A local security official said the cause of the blast had not
yet been determined. Arson had not been ruled out since there was
no keeper nor electrical source in the warehouse.
The official added the warehouse was not authorized for
fireworks storage. The local security department had ordered
fireworks to be moved within five days in January this year.
However, the order was not carried out.
The cause of the blast is now under investigation.
