A total of 14 people were injured in a brawl between construction workers and villagers over a land dispute in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities said Monday.
More than 200 people were engaged in the clash at about 5 p.m. Sunday when angry villagers demanded a land lease from a company at a highway construction site in Guiding County, said the county government.
The highway links Xiamen City in east China's Fujian Province and Chengdu City, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The company said it had paid the money to another village which had claimed to own the land.
The 14 injured, five construction workers and nine villagers, were sent to hospital. Eleven of them were still in hospital Monday.
Police dispersed the crowd late Sunday night and were investigating the case. No one had been arrested as of Monday.
