An American tourist was killed in a road accident Monday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local government sources said Tuesday.
It occurred at 8:20 a.m. in Bachu County when four people, also including two German tourists and a Chinese tour guide, were en route to Kuqa County from neighboring Kashi City.
The car they were in went off the road and overturned. The Bachu County government blamed the accident on speeding.
Grosser Klaus Dieter Herbert, 58, died on the spot. The two Germans, Mieth Harald and Jeltsch Werner, along with the tour guide, were injured and in stable conditions at a hospital.
Kashi is 1,500 km southwest of Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, and 200 km away from Kuqa.
