Death toll in northern China house collapse rises to seven

Another person who was seriously injured after a house collapsed in north China died Tuesday afternoon in the hospital, bringing the death toll in the accident to seven.

The single-story house in Yuquan District, Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, collapsed at about 7 p.m. Monday. Seven people were buried inside, according to the Hohhot city government.

Rescuers pulled out all seven and sent them to the hospital affiliated with the Inner Mongolia Medical College, but six died Monday night. The identities of the dead have not yet been released.

One person outside was slightly injured and remains in stable condition.

Work safety officials and police are investigating the collapse.
