The death toll in a traffic accident in Yizheng Tuesday rose to six by 5:30 Wednesday afternoon, with 19 others still under hospital care, according to local traffic police.

One man was killed immediately and 24 others injured when a shuttle bus collided with a truck at around 9 a.m Tuesday on a highway in Yizheng, an industrial city in eastern China's Jiangsu Province,

The bus was carrying 53 people employees of the Nanjing Port Co., Ltd. to the provincial capital, said Wang Shaohai, head of Yizheng's traffic police brigade.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by local authorities.
