Road accident kills 1, injures 24 in Jiangsu

One man was killed and 24 others injured when a shuttle bus ran into a truck at around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday on a highway in Yizheng, an industrial city in east China's Jiangsu Province, according to local traffic police.

Among the 24 injured that had been hospitalized, four were seriously wounded, including one in critical condition, said Wang Shaohai, head of the city's traffic police brigade.

The bus, with 53 people aboard when the accident happened, were carrying staffers of a Nanjing company to the provincial capital. Wang did not reveal the name of the company.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
