A railway line linking Wenzhou, a city in east China's Zhejiang Province, with Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province, also in eastern China, will open to traffic on June 30, the Fujian provincial government confirmed Monday.

The local government said tracks for the line, which will be the first to link the two regions, have been completed. The line has a designed speed of 200 km to 250 km per hour for passenger trains.

The project, which started in August 2005, cost 12.66 billion yuan (1.85 billion US dollars). The line has 298.4 km of rail, of which 229.1 km are in Fujian.
