Two journalists from Guangxi TV Station were again roughed up on Tuesday by staff members of Guangxi Xiangji Logistics when they attempted to interview the company, which is reported to make non-environmentally-friendly noises, Guangxi TV has reported.
This was the second time that Xiangji staff members have beaten journalists from Guangxi TV.
The TV journalists were accompanied by local environmental bureau officials who were making an onsite inspection to the noise-making company.
At around 12:00 a.m on Tuesday, a group of officials and journalists arrived at Xiangji, in Nanning city, to investigate allegations of the company's noise pollution. Unexpectedly, they were attacked by more than a dozen staff at Guangxi Xiangji Logistics who were trying to stop the investigation.
Staff members then locked the group into the compound grounds.
Later in the afternoon, several other staff members from Guangxi TV rushed to the logistics company to rescue their colleagues after they got calls for help.
Upon the rescuers' arrival, the staff from Xiangji were still scolding the two journalists, ignoring local police officers on the scene.
One of the journalists said he was kicked in the stomach and his interview equipment was thrown around by Xiangji staff.
Not only did staff members ignore police officers' mediation, they also attacked them. One of the police officers also suffered a hand injury.
To ease the tussle, a police officer fired two warning shootings. This did not work, however.
After hearing the breaking news, another journalist from a newspaper was rushed to Xiangji. Unfortunately, he received the same maltreatment.
Some twenty or thirty staff member from Xiangji surrounded the newspaper journalist and took his camera from him.
