Helicopters will be equipped with cameras that provide full peripheral views of several square kilometers. The pilots will be able to make out vehicles' license plates, said Yang Dongfeng, the brigade head.
Deputy Public Security Minister Meng Hongwei said last week that China faced three types of threats: from international terrorists, domestic attackers and organized crime syndicates. But he insisted that good preparation and international security cooperation would keep the Games safe.
China has finished deploying the army, navy and air forces and troops from four military commands near the capital.
Also, China has cooperated extensively with other nations and international organizations in fighting terrorism, Meng said at a meeting of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
