Primary and middle school students around China will watch a security education TV program next Monday on disaster prevention and response, according to the Ministry of Education.
China News Service reported that students will learn how to rescue themselves after earthquake and prevent drowning, traffic and stampede accidents in daily life.
Emergency evacuation drills are also to be arranged in the simulated situation of specific conditions.
Besides, the ministry has uploaded several related videos and books to its website www.moe.gov.cn for downloading.
The security education plans are in concert with the instructions from Chinese President Hu Jintao to add disaster prevention and salvage knowledge into the national education system.
The program will be broadcast at 10 a.m. on June 30 via China Education Television (CETV) and several education websites.
