A winter camp for college students from Taiwan was opened here Sunday in northeastern Jilin Province.

A total of 174 students and teachers from Taiwan-based Taiwan, Tamkang, Chengchi and 15 other universities joined with 45 students from local Jilin University for the seventh annual event.

During seven days, the young people from across the Taiwan Straits will take part in performances, lectures and sightseeing activities.

The winter camp was organized to boost exchanges between college students from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, the Jilin University authority said.
