Taiwan's ruling party Kuomintang (KMT) on Saturday held an extraordinary meeting of the party's 17th congress.
At the meeting, five people were elected as the KMT vice-chairmen, including Taoyuan County Commissioner Chu Li-lun, 47, and Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui, 49, making the number of vice-chairmen increase to eight.
The election of the two younger vice-chairmen was seen by Taiwan local media as a major step for the party, with an 114-year-long history, to extend youth members' participation in party business.
