A bus carrying about 20 people overturned on a bridge here in the central province of Hubei on Saturday afternoon and plunged into the Huangbo River, city government officials said.

About eight passengers were hurled from the bus and landed on an embankment. One was confirmed dead, while the rest were hospitalized.

The remaining passengers were said to be still in the bus.
