Man detained for taking perfume on to plane in Chongqing
Adjust font size:

A man was detained in an airport in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality for forcefully pushing past the security checkpoint with perfume in his package, an airport authority said on Wednesday.

The man, surnamed Sun, who took a MU2716 flight to Nanjing from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, got a five-day detention penalty on Wednesday for violating the new rule that banned passengers from carrying liquids on to planes, said an airport security bureau official.

Sun was found to be carrying a bottle of perfume in his bag at a security check point on Monday evening. But he denied carrying the perfume, abused the inspectors and forcefully rushed forward, according to the official.

Sun was later caught by the airport police.

The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) issued a notice last Friday which banned passengers from taking liquids on to aircraft on domestic flights, including baby food, cosmetics and medicine.

The industry watchdog said the move was to ensure passenger safety and property security, a top priority of airlines and airports worldwide.
