Eleven gas stations found to have safety flaws in Shanghai were
ordered to suspend operations following a fatal gas station blast
on Saturday that killed four people, according to the Shanghai
municipal government.
Twenty others undergoing renovations were also ordered to stop
construction in preparation for inspection, according to the city
government's publicity office.
An explosion occurred at a Shanghai gas station on Saturday when
workers were carrying out maintenance work on an oil tank, killing
two workers and two passers-by. The city's work safety authority is
also planning to relocate certain gas stations that are near
schools and kindergartens, the office said.
