Two helicopters will assist ground traffic police in the
supervision of freeways in the southern province of Guangdong.
Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau launched a 10-day
campaign on Wednesday to intensify traffic regulations and crack
down on traffic violations, according to the Guangdong-based
Information Times.
More than 2,000 police officers, two police helicopters equipped
with digital video cameras and monitoring facilities and some 600
police vans will jointly patrol over 3,300 kilometers of freeways
across the province in an effort to improve road safety, it
said.
Guangdong used police helicopters to supervise traffic during
the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year in January, the first of its
kind in China.
