Police in Taiwan said they have busted an illegal drug factory
capable of producing millions of tabs of ketamine or ecstasy on
Sunday.
The plant was discovered in Neipu Town, Pintung County in
southern Taiwan, where police seized 30 kilograms of ketamine,
which they said could produce 1.2 million tablets of ecstasy,
according to reports of Taiwan media.
In the past, ketamine products were smuggled into Taiwan, but
police received reports last fall that gangs were building plants
in southern Taiwan.
During Sunday's bust, which followed a month-long investigation,
police also confiscated tools, equipment and facilities worth more
than 30 million new Taiwan dollars (about US$909,000).
Three suspects were arrested.
