The bodies of three other miners were recovered Wednesday,
bringing the death toll from a quarry collapse in central China's
Henan Province to six.
The rescue operation ended late Wednesday, said the rescuers,
who managed to save seven people from the collapsed ruins.
According to a local government source, the collapse occurred
around 7:30 AM Monday at a quarry near Nanwang Village in Neixiang
County.
More than 50 rescuers were mobilized to search for trapped
miners.
The county government held a conference Monday to reinforce
safety measures and closed down all quarries in the county pending
a safety examination.
The owners of the quarry are being held by local police while
the cause of the collapse is being investigated.
