A truck plunged into a ravine in southwestern China's Yunnan Province Tuesday evening, killing 10
people and leaving 6 others injured, the local source
confirmed.
The accident took place at 17:40 PM Tuesday when a truck
carrying 18 people plunged into a 11-meter-deep ravine in Zhanyi
County under Qujing City. Seven people were killed on the spot and
another three died later after medical treatment failed, said the
source with the county publicity department.
Most of the passengers were farmers from the Deze Town of the
county who were on their way home from a fair.
The local authorities and health bureau have sent 11 ambulances
and over 100 rescuers for the rescue work.
Relevant local departments are dealing with the aftermath of the
accident and investigation into the cause of the accident is under
way.
