The second Beijing Forum on Human Rights, with "Harmonious Development and Human Rights" as its main theme, was concluded in Beijing Tuesday afternoon.
Dong Yunhu, vice president and secretary-general of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, addressed the closing ceremony. He stressed that poverty is the gravest challenge for human rights, and the best way to develop human rights is through development. China has, and will continue, to advance its human rights cause through people-oriented development.

Dong also emphasized that developing countries should strive to be more involved in the human rights issue, utter their voices and maintain their national dignity. However, only through a fair and reasonable international political and economic order can these be realized. China will make every effort to promote the establishment of such a new order.
At the two-day forum, scholars from 26 countries discussed how to advance the human rights cause by addressing poverty and financial crisis. The forum received more than 60 research papers, an organizer said.
