LONDON, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- After breaking the world record to win 1,500m freestyle at London Olypmics, China's emerging standout Sun Yang said he has fulfilled all his goals in London.

"You won't understand how much I wanted the gold (in 1,500m freestyle)," said Sun, who led all the way in Saturday's final and wiped more than three seconds off the previous world record he set at last year's Shanghai World Championships.

He touched the wall first in 14:31.02, beating silver medalist with an unbelievable eight seconds.

"I really, really want it, and now I made it," said the excited 20-year-old.

"I'm so proud that all my objectives have now been achieved," he added.

Two golds, one silver, one bronze plus a world record made Sun a shining Chinese star in pool, and also saw him the first Chinese swimmer to clinch an Olympic gold medal.

"I didnot expect the little accident to happen at the start of the race," Sun admitted. He was referring to his fall of the block before the buzzer.

After giving the "ready" order for all the finalists, the referee gave a "keep silence" request to the roaring crowds instead of buzzer immediately.

Sun didnot hear the beep and jumped in. The audience including press were surprised by the scene, having no idea whether Sun was disqualified for a false start.

However, it turned out to be an accident and Sun retook his place to start the race.

"I was really worried at that moment. I looked at my parents first (who were on the tribune). My brain was totally blank and I don't know what happened," he said.

"I had to prove myself if I was given a second chance," Sun added. Yes, he did, and never let the chance go.

"It's really not easy to adjust from the accident and to achieve the result," said the emotional Sun in tears.

The 1,500m freestyle was Sun's signature event which has seen him smashing Grant Hackett's decade-old world record last year at the Shanghai World Championships.

Sun, who currently ranks world No.1 in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m, said no one can challenge his dominance in the event. Enditem
