The 84-year-old vice chairman is also a Living Buddha in the Myingma branch of Tibetan Buddhism.
Living Buddha Hsiang Chengchujiangchu said, "Tibetan culture is not being eradicated. On the contrary, it has been thriving under the leadership of the Communist Party of China."
He is an expert on Tibetan medicine as well. He said with government assistance, Tibetan medicine is advancing and benefiting more Tibetans. He noted that some people do not appreciate the good life they have, and the riots on March 14th are fundamentally against Buddhist principles.
Living Buddha Hsiang Chengchujiangchu said,"All monks shall abide by the laws and regulations of our country, love our country, and love Buddhism. That means to support our country and sincerely believe in our religion."
He also said that to host the Olympics Gams is a major responsibility and a great honor.
