China's top anti-graft official He Guoqiang on Monday urged greater participation of scholars and the general public in the country's anti-corruption campaign.

He, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks while having a meeting with anti-corruption scholars and experts.

The discipline inspection and supervision agencies at all levels should maintain frequent communication with experts in the field and fully utilize the findings of their research, said He, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

He encouraged scholars and experts to actively help the country's anti-corruption authorities to improve their work by conducting more studies on key theoretical and practical issues.

Efforts should also be made to expand channels for the general public to be involved in fighting corruption and to establish profound public supervision on anti-corruption efforts, He said.

During the meeting, He also identified a few key anti-corruption areas that need to be addressed ahead of the 18th National Congress of the CPC scheduled next year.

Among others, enhanced supervision should be put in place for newly elected officials and more transparency should be promoted in local Party affairs, He added.
