Senior leader Li Changchun has urged the country's officials in the publicity, ideology and cultural fields to carefully study and promote the Party's recent decisions on boosting China's soft power and maintaining "cultural security."
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks Wednesday at a meeting held for principals of publicity, ideology and culture departments.
According to Li, publicity workers from central departments should be sent to various parts of the country to promote the implementation of the culture-oriented guideline adopted at the sixth plenary session of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
At the four-day plenum that ended Tuesday, CPC leaders agreed that the country should work to improve Chinese citizens' sense of identity and confidence in Chinese culture.
According to a communique issued after the session, great efforts are called for to improve infrastructure and services so that more common people can enjoy free or less costly cultural services.
Li urged the country's media to arrange special programs and articles to interpret the spirit of the session and promote experiences and effective measures of local Party and government departments in cultural reform.
