The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) on Tuesday signed an agreement to establish "long-term and stable" cooperation as part of the government's efforts to integrate the academic powers and logistical networks of both the military and civil sectors.
Liao Xilong, a member of the Central Military Commission and head of the PLA General Logistic Department, and Zhou Ji, president of the CAE, attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement is expected to promote the innovative ability of the PLA's logistic forces and modernize the military's logistics department, said Liu Yuan, commissar of the PLA General Logistics Department.
Under the agreement, CAE academics will provide consultative services to the military on logistical issues, according to the commissar.
CAE academics will also participate in academic exchanges with the military and help the latter train young and middle-aged scientists, the commissar said.
