The vice president of the China Overseas Friendship Association said here Friday that the retirement of the Dalai Lama has a deceptive nature.
The Dalai Lama's announcement of retirement from the so-called "exiled Tibetan government" served the purpose of politics as he intended to foster successors for his secessionist clique, Zhu Weiqun said at a press conference on the sidelines of his visit to Mongolia.
The only way out for the Dalai Lama is to abandon all secessionist acts, accept the requirements of the central government and seek the forgiveness of the Chinese people, said Zhu, who is also the vice president of China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture.
Only on this basis, he said, can the central government hold talks with him to solve problems concerning his future.
Zhu added that the central government will not hold talks with delegates of the "exiled Tibetan government" and will only talk with personal delegates of the Dalai Lama.
Zhu arrived in Mongolia on Thursday for a four-day visit, which is aimed at promoting China-Mongolia friendly exchanges.
The Dalai Lama announced his plan to step down as the political head of the "exiled Tibetan government" on March 10.
