Police in southwestern China's Sichuan Province arrested a Guinean man found with more than a kilogram of heroin in his body, Chengdu Customs said yesterday.
The man, whose name was not released, was formally arrested on February 23, after customs police found the drugs in his body, said a spokesman at the Chengdu Customs office.
Customs officers at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport first intercepted the man on January 20 on his arrival from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, officials said.
The man, with a Guinean passport, looked suspicious but luggage checks found no signs of any contraband. But his passport was found to be fake and officers called in doctors as they suspected the man was concealing drugs. Some 1,009 grams of heroin in 60 packs was recovered.
Further investigations into the case are under way, said a spokesman.
