Families of missing mainland tourists to arrive in Taiwan

The families of 19 Chinese mainland tourists missing in the Typhoon Megi-triggered landslides in Taiwan are coming to the island, with a hope of miracles of life, sources with the mainland travel agencies said.

The 19 tourists from south China's Zhuhai city, lost contact at 10:00 p.m., Oct. 21 after the landslide occurred on east coast of Taiwan's Suhua highway.
The tourist group leader Tian Yuan's families arrived in Taiwan Saturday. Tian's mother said she only hoped to hear good news of her daughter.
The deputy secretary-general of the mainland-based Cross-Strait Tourism Exchange Association (CTEA) will lead officials from Guangdong Province to Taiwan Sunday for coordination of rescue work and dealing with the aftermath of the mishap.
The Megi had claimed 11 lives in Taiwan as of Saturday after it wreaked havoc in the Philippines.
