Mountain torrents on Monday flooded the only way for rescuers and vehicles to enter a tourist destination in mountains of south China's Hainan Province where two people were missing and 138 others had been stranded for two days.
The torrents gushed down from the Diaoluo Mountain region in Lingshui County of the island province at 8:20 a.m., about 8 km from where most of the stranded people were located.
Armed police officers and soldiers were conducting road work, hoping to restore traffic soon.
A landslide occurred at around 3:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Diaoluo Mountain.
A forestry worker and a local farmer were missing, while 125 tourists and 13 workers of the Diaoluo Mountain Forestry Bureau were stranded, a local government spokesman said.
The rain-triggered landslide buried a 100-meter-long road in the area.
