China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) said Thursday that the pipeline which had exploded causing an oil spill out from China's northeast port of Dalian had resumed normal operation.
Each day around 45,000 tonnes of crude oil is pumped through the pipeline, connecting Dalian Xingang Port and Dalian Petrochemicals, according to CNPC -- China's largest oil and gas producer and supplier.
Dalian Petrochemicals had received 66,000 tonnes of crude oil by midday Wednesday after oil stockpiles had shrunk considerably, according to CNPC.
An explosion hit an oil pipeline 0.9 meters in diameter at 6:20 p.m. on July 16 and triggered an adjacent smaller pipeline to explode near Dalian Xingang Port. Both pipelines are owned by CNPC.
