Senior leader stresses moral teaching for youth

Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Li Changchun Tuesday said China's young people needed greater moral education.
Li made the remarks in a meeting with delegates to a meeting of the China Work Committee on Care for Children on its 20th anniversary.
Founded in 1990, the committee helps in the moral education of Chinese youth. It organized outstanding retired workers from all walks of life to teach lessons on life, society, law, and science development.
"Old comrades," such as retired government officials, veterans, experienced experts and teachers and models, had done much meaningful work for young people, said Li, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, encouraged the elderly workers to teach young people how to establish a correct outlook on the world, life and values.
At the meeting, 1,802 committee workers were honored for their outstanding contributions.
