A huge maze as big as 29 soccer fields and running through corn fields is planned for northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, the country's major grain production base.
Looking from above, the maze will resemble the face of a tiger. It should be a big tourist attraction, the maze designer Liu Deming told Xinhua.
Liu, a professor from Harbin Institute of Technology, said farmers will first plant the corn and when the plants grow over a person's height engineers will mark out a tiger's face. Farmers then will cut the plants in accordance with the markings.
This year is the Year of Tiger, according to Chinese lunar calendar.
Liu said walking through the maze's 10,000-meter path would take around two hours. The maze, to be located in Lanxi County around one-hour drive from the provincial capital Harbin, is expected to be open to public in a few months, he said.
The corn maze is expected to provide local farmers with an extra source of income, the local government said.
