A man stabbed eight people, including three family members, to death Saturday in east China's Jishui County, Jiangxi Province, police said Sunday.
The suspect, Zhou Yezhong, killed his mother, wife, daughter, four neighbors and one migrant worker with knife at about 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Chengyuan village, Badu Township in Jishui County.
He was caught at about 7:50 p.m. by the county police.
The victims are two men and six women, with the oldest 83-year-old and the youngest 10-year-old. The motivation of the killing was still unknown, said Zhou Weihui, head of the county public security bureau.
Many villagers who witnessed the incident said that Zhou was 36-year-old. He killed his 10-year-old daughter first and then his own mother, despite that the woman in her 80s kneeled down and begged for a life.
The killer then rushed to a neighbor's house and killed his wife Kang Qiuying, his neighbor Hu Dongsheng, and Hu's mother Wu Xiu.
Two other villagers Ye Wen'e and Zhou Nianmei were also killed when running away from the scene and calling for help. A migrant worker, Zuo Huasheng was killed when he just went out of his house nearby.
Investigation is ongoing.
