Senior Chinese leader urges improved discipline inspection, supervision

China's anti-graft chief He Guoqiang Friday urged the country's discipline inspection and supervision authorities to enhance their capabilities and to win public trust.
He, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the call at a meeting in Beijing.
Constant efforts must be made in ideological education, professional training and institution building, said He, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
The authorities must refrain from abusing their powers for illicit gains and handle legal cases in accordance with discipline and law, and must not leak the information of petitions or whistle-blowers, He said.
He also called on the authorities to be more willing to subject themselves to public supervision and to be more approachable, trustworthy and respected.
