A passenger train has killed three people who were allegedly "partying" on a railway track Wednesday midnight in central China's Hunan Province, the Guangzhou Railway Group said here Thursday.

The train K935, heading to Guangzhou from Hunan's Xiangfan, hit the victims near a railway bridge at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Two of the victims were killed on the spot, while another three were injured. One of the injured died at the hospital.

According to the Guangzhou Railway Group, the victims, whose names and ages were not given, were students "drinking and partying" on the railway track when the train approached.

The railway company said the engine driver of the train blew the horn and tried to bring the train to stop but failed.

Authorities are currently still investigating the case.
