China has shut down 10 websites with pornographic and lewd contents in a fresh round of crackdown on the spread of such contents through Internet or WAP sites, the Information Office of the State Council said Monday.
The ten websites were exposed by the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center on Dec. 16, and then closed by their Internet access providers, the office said in a statement.
China launched a new round of harsh crackdown on spreading pornographic contents through Internet or WAP sites targeting mobile phone users to "purify the social environment" on Dec. 8.
