Beijing has registered 49 deaths among the 10,127 people infected by the A/H1N1 flu so far, the municipal health bureau said Monday.
Among the infected, 3,493 were still hospitalized by Sunday, the bureau said.
In the week from Dec. 7 to Dec. 13, the city witnessed five new deaths of the disease and 419 newly infected people, it said.
The total number of confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu in the Chinese mainland had topped 100,000 and fatalities totaled 326 by Wednesday.
The next two months would be "very critical" for A/H1N1 flu control, as the country is expecting a huge number of travelers nationwide during the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival, which will further increase pressure to control the epidemic, Deng Haihua, spokesman of the Ministry of Health, has said.
