A pet store owner has been given a suspended sentence of three years for attempting to sell endangered wild animals, Changning District People's Court said yesterday.
The owner surnamed Zhao was also fined 30,000 yuan(US$4,392). Officers of Shanghai Forestry Bureau seized one red-tailed boa, two savannah monitors and two Burmese pythons in the store on February 25. The animals are all under strictest state protection and are banned from trade.
