Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday called on government staff in logistics section to be clean, dedicated and frugal.
Though the country is richer and there are more materials available now, "we should continue to stick to the principle of frugality in doing everything," Wen said when meeting representatives attending a conference held by an association for administrative affairs.
"People endow us with power...we should consider our power as trust from the people," Wen said. "We should be conscious that every penny and every piece of paper we use come from the people's labor."
Wen stressed reform within government organs to improve administrative regulations in terms of financial affairs, the use of houses and vehicles, government procurement, and reception in a bid to make the process more transparent.
State Councilor Ma Kai said at Thursday's conference that the key tasks at present and in the future for building frugal government organs are to strictly control the construction of government buildings, use of public vehicles, and expenditures on official duties, as well as to enhance the efficiency of energy saving and construction funds.
