CPPCC to hold 21st Century Forum conference in 2010

The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the top political advisory body, will hold an international conference of the 21st Century Forum in September 2010, the CPPCC said Saturday.

Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, is the honorary chairman of the 2010 conference. CPPCC National Committee vice chairman Wang Gang serves as its chairman.

Distinguished persons and experts from home and abroad are to be invited to the international conference to discuss cooperation under new challenges, the source said.

The topics will cover international politics and diplomacy, global and regional economic cooperation, climate change, renewable energy, scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, social security, public health and cultural industry.

The 21st Century Forum is a high-level multilateral academic event aiming to improve China's cooperation and mutual understanding with the rest of the world, the CPPCC said.

Three conferences of the forum had been held since it was initiated in 1996. Its latest meeting in September 2005 called for seeking the sustainable development of human beings.
