The world's traditional information and media industry would seek new developing patterns through the development of new technologies, John Liu, corporate vice president of the Greater China Operations at Google Inc., said Friday in Beijing.

Liu made the remarks at the ongoing World Media Summit (WMS), which was jointly launched by Xinhua, News Corporation, the Associated Press and six other global media organizations.

Various sectors including business, entertainment, traditional publishing industry and advertising would face changes, driven by the development of new technologies, Liu said.

According to the world's search engine giant, the Internet has changed the world profoundly over the past 10 years -- 2 billion people now search information online every day and 100 billion non-spam emails and instant messages were sent every day.

The three-day WMS opening on Thursday attracted about 300 heads and representatives from more than 170 global media outlets. It has a theme of "Cooperation, Action, Win-Win and Development".
